Based on the classic Rolex Daytona 116520 in steel with steel bezel, the Artisans de Genève ”La Barrichello” stands out by the way its team has transformed the Rolex calibre 4130 Chronograph, giving the watch a sportier and highly mechanical style. It all began when Rubens Barrichello —the former Formula One driver— came to them with the extraordinary project of turning his stainless steel Rolex Daytona into an open-worked watch that had a similar look and feel of racing cars.
Following in the part-time horologist footsteps of legendary Colombian racer Juan Pablo Montoya, Brazilian ex-F1 driver Barichello has worked with custom Rolex specialists Artisans de Geneve on a unique limited edition of the Daytona: La Barichello.

Now the benign Brazilian has joined forces with Artisans de Genève to modify a Rolex Daytona in order to reflect his enduring motorsport career. Last year they worked on the world’s first skeleton dial Rolex Daytona, and for this year, the Geneva-based master craftsmen have collaborated with Rubens Barrichello to customize his Rolex Daytona, by adding the mechanical style of racing cars to the watch.
